Many Journeys In her youth she [Nerdanel] loved to travel far from the dwellings of the Noldor, either beside the Sea or in the hills; and thus she and Fëanor had met and were companions in many journeys.

For dawn_felagund's summer solstice challenge, a drabble (according to Open Office) for each of the solstices and equinoxes, centering around the Nirnaeth Arnoediad.

Monday, 17th May 2010

Summary: The Oath of the Feanorians shows Maglor nightmares of what might have befallen, had events played out but a little different. Five drabbles in the 'five things that...' meme style. Warnings: Occurences of violence, torture, character death (of children) in non-canonical nightmare scenarios. Asterisked cuts contain abovementioned material.
Thank you, Lyra, for the MEFA Nomination!

For allie_meril, who gave me a lovely quote to work with:
For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command or faith a dictum. I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.
- Charles Bukowski
It sparked a double drabble, exactly 200 words according to MS word, and very different from the original idea. Of course, Fëanor, major AU, PG?. I've wanted to write something of the sort for years and finally got the much-needed impetus. Thank you, Allie! I hope you're enjoying this.

Uhm, yes. This is what you get when your next-room-neighbour does late night skyping and wakes you with her shrieks, and then upon checking the flist you stumble over this week's prompt at 15_minute_fic. -_- However this came out of it I don't know. My mind is a scary place.
I guess I should warn for language, OOC-ness of a sort, slash and allusions to non-con incest, but then this is a humour-ish (if lame, I can't write that sort of thing) story, and harmless if you know the context. Also, with a terminus ante quem of 4th century AD Egypt, toothpaste doesn't seem like such an anachronism for appearing here.

Summary: The death of Fëanor and its immediate aftermath as narrated by Maedhros, and how the story took its shape as we know it. Warnings: Implied violence, battle wounds, character death. Possibly disconcerting.

To write something, I just joined 15_minute_fic. 15 minutes of writing, about 5 of rough editing, and something vaguely ficlet-ish happened.
Fandom: The Silmarillion Characters: The Sons of Fëanor (especially Maglor) Rating: PG for mentions of violence Word count: 398 For word #104: Acquire
